CHICAGO, June 9, 2025 — The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is advising the food-away-from-home industry to check its coolers and kitchens for whole brown eggs supplied by August Egg Co., which is warning of a possible salmonella contamination.
About 1.7 million of the eggs have been recalled, according to the authorities. The eggs were distributed between Feb. 3 and May 15 to restaurants, supermarkets and other retail outlets. They were sold under the brand names Clover, First Street, Nulaid, O Organics, Marketside, Raleys, Simple Truth, Sun Harvest, and Sunnyside.
About 79 people in seven states have been sickened after eating or handling eggs from August Egg. Twenty-one of the victims required hospitalization, according to the FDA.
The suspect eggs were distributed within Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington and Wyoming.
The FDA advises any business that has the recalled eggs to throw them out or return them to whatever party supplied them.
