Kenneth Lee, Michigan State University School of Hospitality Business

Every year, many culinary and hospitality students benefit from the $1,000 stipends awarded by the Society. Based on the feedback we get from both students and their institutions, it’s clear that these stipends make a real difference and help these outstanding young people achieve their career goals.

Last year, we were able to award 22 $1,000 internships, and every single letter of thanks echoes the sentiments from the students above. The need for highly qualified and creative people in the foodservice industry grows, and financial need is greater than ever for many of these students. With so many deserving students throughout the country, I hope that we, as a society and as committed industry leaders, will continue to provide opportunities for stand-out students.

The participating schools from 2017/2018 are:

  • Brigham Young University Hawaii
  • Calpoly – The Collins College
  • The Culinary Institute of America
  • Florida International University
  • Kansas State University
  • Michigan State University
  • Oklahoma State University
  • Penn State University
  • Purdue University
  • Rancho Cielo Inc.
  • University of Illinois
  • University of Nevada, Las Vegas
  • Virginia Tech
  • Western Michigan University

I hope all Society members will continue to support the Internship program. As always, any amount is appreciated, although I hope you’ll consider becoming a Gold Benefactor for a full internship stipend. Everyone’s contribution made a real difference to a lot of students.

Let’s make every effort for record support in 2018.
