Operator/Manufacturer Collaboration Model (OCM)

In 2014 IFMA and a committee of 30 chain operators and manufacturers championed the development of a new best-practice model for collaboration called OCM - The Operator/Manufacturer Collaboration Model.

The framework includes a set of tools to help manufacturers work more collaboratively and effectively with national account customers, and for operators, with suppliers. It includes a customizable segmentation tool and scorecard that operators can use to segment suppliers and that manufacturers can use to segment their largest accounts. Read more about the OCM.

Refreshing the Operator/Manufacturer Relationship

Working together to become mutually successful should be a no-brainer. It’s all about communication, or in today’s business world, collaboration. It’s vital to eliminate those road blocks and speak the same language. Bill McClellan, Vice President, Foodservice at Dawn Foods shares his passion on the best practice for operator collaboration and how Dawn Foods has benefited from applying this new model.

Operator/Manufacturer Collaboration Model

Many operators and manufacturers wish there was some commonality or level of standardization in their conversations. This theme emerged as IFMA began its comprehensive strategic planning process a year and a half ago. In response, the strategic plan called for creation of the Operator/Manufacturer Collaboration Model (OCM). An OCM Committee finished the first phase of its work and presented their findings at IFMA COEX 2015. Learn what OCM Committee Members Bill McClellan from Dawn Foods and Rachel Rushing from Dave & Buster's presented.
