Foodservice GS1 US Standards Initiative

As a member of this initiative, IFMA is partnering with the foodservice industry to identify and overcome challenges using GS1 Standards—seeking to drive waste out of the foodservice supply chain, improve product information, and establish a foundation for food safety through better traceability. Working collaboratively as members of the Foodservice GS1 US Standards Initiative, we are encouraging the use of open, global standards to improve efficiency, accuracy, and visibility in the foodservice supply chain.

Foodservice Leaders Share Call-to-Action for Complete and Accurate Data

Seventeen leading foodservice organizations have co-signed an industry call-to-action letter to focus on complete and accurate product data to help meet the demand for information transparency in today’s digital world. This effort is aimed at improving data sharing between trading partners as well as with consumers, and was coordinated by the Foodservice GS1 US Standards Initiative.

GDSN Major Release 3 Rescheduled for May 20, Letter Provides Important Preparation Details

A letter to the IFMA Membership Community from Angela Fernandez, Vice President, Foodservice and Retail Grocery, GS1 US Industry Engagement, alerts users of the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) to be ready for “Major Release 3”, originally scheduled to take place on May 6, but now moved back to May 20. Loss of service may severely impact a company’s ability to receive item data through the network. The letter provides guidance on what to expect and how to prepare for the release.

How Dot Foods Uses Quality Foodservice Data as Expressway for Growth

With about 105,000 products from 700 suppliers, Dot Foods (Dot) was looking for a way to fully-leverage its market advantage by expanding and enhancing the Expressway with more complete and accurate product information. The company launched a data quality initiative that transformed its online catalogue to include expanded and validated data attributes. Learn more about how this initiative now enables more than 1.5 million hits per month from its users, including 2,800 distributors and 310 national account operators.
