Share a story about your first job in foodservice.

One of my first jobs was as a salesperson covering New England and I sold the owner of Bob's Big Boy (a small chain based out of Springfield, Mass) 2300 cases of smoked BBQ for a LTO.....and this is in NE, not exactly a hot bed for pulled Pork and Beef Brisket!! Anyway, he was a referee for college football and covered the Patriot conference (Holy Cross, Bucknell, etc.) and I loved college football so I really think he bought the BBQ because he liked to spend time with me talking football. It was a good lesson on the importance of finding common ground, establishing a relationship and being an active listener. I bet they still have that BBQ in some warehouse!!!

What is your industry passion?
I'm really passionate about a few things. Seeing people succeed and taking the time and energy to both make that happen and set a tone for the organization about the critical importance of investing in your people is one of them. Focusing on the right fit, setting high, clear expectations then driving the results. And ensuring the company has a total focus on meeting and exceeding customer expectations is also really important since understanding how to make that happen is why we exist.

What is your motto?
People can accomplish much more than they think. Part of your job is to help them see that's possible; treat others as you'd like to be treated
