After a number of false alarms and delays, FDA released on
January 4, 2013, the most significant proposed regulations
implementing the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) to date. The
release comes on the two-year anniversary of President Obama's
signing of FSMA.
On February 27, 2014, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) released two proposed rules containing long-awaited changes
to the Nutrition Facts panel and changes to the determination of
serving sizes in packaged foods.
The Executive Committees of the International Foodservice
Distributors Association (IFDA) and the International
Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) have established a
collaborative framework for the associations to work together
to identify and prioritize key supply chain issues. Under the
name "Supply Chain Optimization, Resources, and Execution"
(SCORE), representatives of both committees have identified timely
challenges and opportunities that distributors and manufacturers
can successfully address together.
