Foodservice Category Management Defined: Day 120 Update

Posted by Larry Oberkfell, President/CEO, IFMA September 19, 2013

Tagged in Foodservice Category Management

Greetings from the second very successful meeting of the Foodservice Category Management Innovation & Activation Board.* Opening business for the Board was the discussion and agreement on the following definition for Foodservice Category Management:

A collaborative consumer and category-based planning and execution process between foodservice industry stakeholders that leverages mutually agreed to goals, insights and strategic and tactical plans to drive improved business results."

As you can see, collaboration is a primary component and the complexity of our industry requires thoughtful alignment. Although we execute through our operator customers, the consumers' needs must be considered to drive demand of foodservice. Through this united focus, we can succeed in increasing foodservice consumer demand.

You can hear more about how industry leaders are focused on driving efficiency and effectiveness in foodservice at this year's Presidents Conference. New initiatives will be unveiled and The Partnering Group will provide additional updates on Category Management, including breakouts in three areas: Insights, Collaboration and Activation/RIO. You won't want to miss it!

Also, please remember that IFMA Manufacturer Members and Associate Members are automatically eligible to be part of the Foodservice Category Management Update Group.
