Kevin G. Delahunt, President - Food Service Division, Sargento Foods Inc.

Kevin worked his way through college as a bartender in a variety of establishments including restaurants, taverns, night clubs and Summerfest, the world's largest music festival in his home town of Milwaukee. Now Kevin is President of the Food Service Division at Sargento Foods, Inc. Kevin notes that America has the most well developed foodservice marketplace in the world and he is a glad to be a part of it.

Describe your position/role (in your words)?

I am honored to lead a team of sales, marketing and administrative professionals focused on bringing great tasting Sargento cheese products to America's largest chain restaurants and convenience stores.

Share a story about your first job in foodservice.

I worked my way through college as a bartender in a variety of establishments including restaurants, taverns, night clubs and Summerfest, the world's largest music festival in my home town of Milwaukee.  I loved having contact with the public in an atmosphere they chose to go to for fun and to enjoy life.

What is your industry passion?

I am immensely proud that America has the most well developed foodservice marketplace in the world.  From our efficient supply chain to the food safety measures that protect consumers every day, I love being part of the best food manufacturing, marketing and delivery system on earth. And I find the race to continually improve is exhilarating -- I love it!

In 2020, what do you think the foodservice industry will be like?

More of everything good: More convenience, variety, value, safety, quality -- all brought to market through the imagination of sharp business leaders. More options tailored to the demographics of the day.

What is your motto?

People first. Everything else will fall into place.

What is your advice to a person new to the industry?

You've joined an ever changing yet stable industry. Work hard, always treat people with respect and the future is yours to create.

What do you value most about being on an IFMA committee?

That's easy. The people I have met through IFMA events have brought me immeasurable personal satisfaction and valuable professional connections. Many of my best friends in the industry have come to as a result of my engagement with IFMA.

What is your favorite sports team?

The Green Bay Packers, of course!
