IFMA Names 2016 Top Distributors in Foodservice

CHICAGO, SEPT. 29, 2016—The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) announced the winners of the 10th Annual Distributor Awards, which acknowledges distributor leadership and overall excellence within the foodservice industry. Dot Foods, Food Services of America (FSA) and the McClelland Family of Shamrock Foods were each honored during the Distributor Awards ceremony at the IFMA 54th Annual Presidents Conference, co-hosted by the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) in Scottsdale, AZ, November 6-8.

"Every year the bar gets raised by outstanding distribution companies,” said Larry Oberkfell, president and CEO of IFMA. “Choosing winners this year was very difficult for the jury, reminding all just how competitive the industry has become. The 2016 distribution award winners truly represent the best in our industry.”

2016 IFMA Distributor Award recipients:

  • Dot Foods receives the IFMA Excellence in Distribution Award. This award recognizes a corporate or independent distribution organization that has demonstrated excellence in the categories of management and leadership, customer relations, supplier relations and industry/community contributions. Family-owned and -operated for more than 55 years, Dot Foods is the nation’s first and largest food industry redistributor. Dot Foods is being honored for their excellence in supplier relations, demonstrating dedicated commitment to partnerships from the start and always working to improve processes wherever they can. Dot Foods remains receptive and considerate of manufacturers’ guidelines that are currently in place and works to develop innovative ways for programs to run within those existing guidelines.

Dot Foods was nominated by The Coca-Cola Company.

  • Food Services of America (FSA) is awarded the IFMA Distributor Sales & Marketing Performance Award, which recognizes a single independent distributor or an individual operating company of a distributor with multiple locations that has demonstrated successful planning and execution of creative sales and marketing. FSA is a privately-held, family-owned broadline foodservice distributor serving customers throughout the Midwest, West and Alaska. FSA is being honored for their consistent and successful go-to-market business solution method, establishing a highly effective process for its customers’ sales program rollout. Additionally, FSA is also being recognized for their exceptional job in launching planned promotions and platforms to the field, successfully increasing sales.

Food Services of America was nominated by Schreiber Foods.

  • The McClelland Family of Shamrock Foods is named winner of IFMA's Distinguished Industry Achievement Award, which recognizes leaders who have brought about positive change in the foodservice distribution community and have been pioneers in the areas of management, marketing and operations. Founded in 1922 in Arizona, Shamrock Foods is the comprehensive resource for restaurants, hotels and other foodservice operations across the Western U.S. with distribution centers in California, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Oregon.
