Bill Day, Executive Vice President of Merchandising for Sysco Corp., delivered a webinar on July 21 hosted by IFMA. During the webinar, he discussed topics including the state of category management for Sysco and the industry, challenges and opportunities in foodservice and attributes displayed by best-in-class manufacturers in category management.

Bill also fielded several questions from webinar listeners. A sampling of those questions include:

  • What do you see as the future of Category Management in foodservice?
  • How would you define "meaningful insights"? Can you provide examples on how a manufacturer has provided these and how it has helped Sysco's (and the manufacturers') businesses?
  • Is Category Management only for large companies? How can small/mid-sized companies support your Category Management efforts?
  • If there was one thing you would improve about the Category Management process, what would it be?
