IFMA hosted the annual "Foodservice Ashore Solutions", an enterprise-wide training opportunity for MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) food service professionals June 9-12 at Navy Base Point Loma in San Diego California. Food service demos and samplings were featured, along with guest speakers from IFMA, Disney, the Kruse Company, and Datassential.

Attended by 50+ IFMA members and 100+ Navy Foodservice Personnel from around the globe, IFMA members had the opportunity to present the latest products in their portfolios which lead to opportunities for upcoming product presentations later in the year.

"It is excellent, first from the perspective of transparency of information. Throughout the 3 days of meetings, all, including the manufacturers, are invited to go to each of the many informative industry meetings. This gives all of us a better understanding of this business and how to work more effectively within it. Additionally it offered Lyons Magnus the unique occasion to meet and discuss opportunities with the many top level decision makers at

CNIC & MWR agency's with in the Navy."

Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) branch managers brought IFMA members and others up-to-date on their latest initiatives and needs in the Food and Beverage field and in foodservice in the bowling, golf and movie programs.

"This is the best opportunity for the manufacturing community to meet with this agency group. It is the only time of year both groups come together," said Steve Hammel, Navy Region Southwest Dining Services Program Manager.

Navy personnel also had the opportunity to participate in workshops addressing opportunities in training, POS software, Human Resources and more.

CNIC's Food and Beverage Program Team provided IFMA's Manufacturer Members with details on their Healthy Base Initiative and internal brand portfolio.

Next year's Foodservice Ashore Solutions will be held at Point Loma on June 8-10, 2015. We will soon announce further detail on speakers and the 2015 program.
