2017 Silver Plate Series: Independent Restaurants/Multi-Concept

Posted by IFMA May 08, 2017

Wolfgang Puck, Chef/Owner of Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, received the 2017 Silver Plate Award in the Independent Restaurants/Multi-Conceptcategory. Nominated by Nestlé Professional.

What drives the nation’s top foodservice operators? We asked the 2017 Silver Plate Class a few questions to get the inside scoop. Find out what they had to say about career accomplishments and what it means to be part of a legendary group of operators.

What do you enjoy most about your career in foodservice?

To me, the most exciting thing about what I do, is that I get to make memories and special moments for so many people, every day. We have many great guests who keep coming back to us time after time, knowing that we will make their experiences and memories exceptional. Making people happy every day through food, that is what I enjoy the most.

Tell us about your biggest career accomplishment.

Longevity has been my biggest career accomplishment. This year we are celebrating 35 years of Spago in Los Angeles, which is amazing when you consider that most restaurants close within the first year! We also just received a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was a major milestone achievement for the Wolfgang Puck Group.

What advice do you have for someone new to the foodservice industry?

Never give up if this is your dream. If you love something and you have a passion for it, you’ll never work a day in your life.

What does being an IFMA Silver Plate recipient mean to you?

Receiving the IFMA Silver Plate Award is a true honor and to me, it means that our daily goal of excellence is being achieved by all of our team all over the world. Without the hardwork of those associates and partners, this would not be possible.
