$252,000 Awarded to the Future of Foodservice

The IFMA Education Foundation has announced they will award $252,000 in 2017 stipends and scholarships.

The IFMA Education Foundation awards $5,000 scholarships for qualified culinary, marketing or food science students toward completion of educational requirements. In 2017, the Education Foundation is awarding 46 scholarships to committed foodservice students.

The International Gold & Silver Plate Society, a council of the foundation, awards $1,000 internship stipends to students demonstrating a firm commitment to a career in foodservice (culinary/hospitality).  In 2017, the Society is awarding 22 stipends to deserving students.

The following is the list of schools chosen to receive this years stipends and scholarships:

  • Calpoly - The Collins College
  • Cornell University
  • Florida International University
  • Kansas State University
  • Michigan State University
  • Oklahoma State University
  • Penn State University
  • Purdue University
  • Rancho Cielo - Drummond Culinary Academy
  • The Culinary Institute of America
  • University of Nevada, Las Vegas
  • University of Illinois
  • Virginia Tech University
  • Western Michigan University

Marketing & Sales Leaders Forum

Gene Lee Receives Foodservice Industry's Top Honor

Gene Lee, President and Chief Executive Officer, Darden Restaurants, was named the 2018 Gold Plate Award winner by the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA). Gene was nominated by Ecolab and was one of nine operator all-stars who were eligible for the award after being nominated in March for an IFMA Silver Plate award. Gene represented the Chain Full Service category.
